Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has predicted that American young gun Sebastian Korda will win a Grand Slam by 2023.

The 21-year-old is currently ranked at No 41 in the world and has made inroads in recent times.

Korda has one career title to date – achieved on clay at this year’s Emilia-Romagna Open in Italy – and his best result at the Grand Slams are the fourth round at Roland Garros (2020) and Wimbledon (2021).

But Navratilova – who won a combined 59 Grand Slam titles (18 singles, 31 doubles and 10 mixed doubles) – has already seen enough of Korda to predict a bright future for the young gun.

“Also a matter of time,” Navratilova said in a recent interview on whether she thought Korda would win a major.

“Seb Korda, a complete player, he keeps his head about him. First time I saw him play I’m like ‘he’s already been here,’ you know, in his previous life.
“I mean he’s been coached so well by his parents. He’s got such a great game, a great outlook. I think, if not next year, I would say 2023 would be a year for him.”

Sabastian’s father, Petr Korda, is a former world No 2 and winner of the 1998 Australian Open.
