On this day – October 21, 1989 – American legend Jimmy Connors won his 109th ATP Tour title.

Connors beat Israel’s Gilad Bloom 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the Tel Aviv Open final.

Connors, who played in 164 ATP finals, still holds the all-time record for most ATP titles (109).

The now 69-year-old won eight Grand Slam singles titles in his career – five US Opens, two Wimbledon crowns and one Australian Open.

Roger Federer is second on the list with 103 ATP titles.
