Dominic Thiem believes Daniil Medvedev will be become a multiple Grand Slam winner.

Medvedev bagged his first major title with a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win over Novak Djokovic in the US Open final last week.

Thiem, who won his sole Grand Slam at the 2020 US Open, believes Medvedev has the right mentality to win more Grand Slams.

“I have no doubts that Daniil will win other Grand Slam tournaments,” Thiem said on Eurosport. “For me, he is the closest of the younger generation. He knows how to win games, he knows how to prepare for the big games.”

According to Thiem, Medvedev is better in crucial moments than other highly-rated young stars like Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

“He does not fidget and is not nervous. He is one step ahead of Stefanos Tsitsipas or Alexander Zverev,” Thiem said.

Thiem was unable to defend his US Open title this year due to a wrist injury but is expected to be back on the ATP Tour in 2022.
