The US Open women’s singles final will be an all-teenage affair between Great Britain’s Emma Raducanu and Canadian Leylah Fernandez.

Qualifier Raducanu, 18, beat Greek 17th seed Maria Sakkari 6-1, 6-4 in the semi-finals, while the 19-year-old Fernandez beat second seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus 7-6 (7/3), 4-6, 6-4.

It’s the first Grand Slam final between teenagers since 17-year-old Serena Williams beat 18-year-old Martina Hingis at the 1999 US Open, and just the eighth all-teen Slam final in the Open era (since 1968).

Williams beat Hingis 6-3, 7-6 (7/4) in the 1999 US Open final which was the first of her 23 majors.
